Topological groupoidのトポロジーと幾何学

トポロジーでの groupoid の役割としては, “generalized space” としてのものが重要である。その際, groupoid には位相が入っていることが多い。より正確には, object の集合と morphism の集合に位相が入り, structure map が連続写像であるもの, つまり位相空間の圏での groupoid object になっていることが多いのである。このようなものを topological groupoid という。

最も基本的な例は, 位相群の連続な作用である。

  • 位相群 \(G\) が位相空間 \(X\) に (左から) 作用しているとき, object の空間を \(X\), morphism の空間を \(G\times X\) とすれば topological groupoid になる。これを global quotient とか translation groupoid などと呼ぶ。

Global action とは, Bak が higher algebraic \(K\)-theory の解釈のために考えた概念である。Bak と Brown と Minian と Porter の [Bak+06] を見るとよい。

実際には, 様々な条件を付けた topological groupoid を考える。

Topological groupoid は topological category なので, その分類空間が定義できる。

良い topological groupoid からは, convolution algebra (groupoid algebra) をとることにより, \(C^*\)-algebra, つまり 非可換空間が作られる。 Debord と Lescure の lecture note [DL10] が簡潔にまとめられていてよい。それによると, groupoid \(C^*\)-algebra の構成としては, Khoshkam と Skandalis [KS04] がよいようである。

このように topological groupoid を “generalized space” と考える人は多い。 その立場からは, 位相空間に関する概念や構成を groupoid に拡張しようと考えるのは自然だろう。 例えば以下のものである。

  • topological groupoid の covering space
  • topological groupoid 上の principal bundle
  • topological groupoid 上の vector bundle
  • Lupercio と Uribe の loop groupoid ([LU02])
  • topological groupoid の configuration space ([BT])
  • finite discrete groupoid の Euler 標数

これらの定義の内, 最初の三つは, やはり Moerdijk の [Moe02] に書いてある。Adem と Leida と Ruan の本 [ALR07] にも解説がある。

Loop groupoid は, その分類空間が元の groupoid の分類空間の free loop space になるように作られた topological groupoid である。Lupercio と Uribe により [LU02] で定義された。「Loop 空間」があれば string topology を構築しようという人が現れるのは当然であり, Noohi ら [Beh+12; GN] により考えられている。 Noohi [Noo10] はより一般に mapping stack の性質を調べている。

Vector bundle があれば \(K\)-theory が考えられる。より一般に以下のようなコホモロジーが考えられる。

  • groupoid の \(K\)-theory
  • groupoid 上の sheaf
  • groupoid の sheaf cohomology

分類空間を取り位相空間に直し位相空間の不変量を使うのが, topological groupoid の不変量を定義する最も簡単な方法だろう。 ホモトピー群をその方法で定義することもできるが, Mrcun の [Mrc] や Jelenc の [Jel13] にあるように, \((I^n,\partial I^n)\) 上の principal bundle のホモトピー類の集合として定義することもできる。Jelenc は topological groupoid の Serre fibration も定義している。

Topological groupoid のホモロジーとしては, Crainic と Moerdijk の [CM00] の定義したものがある。Étale groupid に対するものであるが。具体的な計算例としては, Matui の[Mat12] などがある。

より現代的には, topological groupoid の圏を model category と考えたいところである。まず (位相を持たない) groupoid の圏のモデル構造としては, Anderson の [And78] に書いてあるものがある。

Topological groupoid の圏のモデル構造については, 扱った論文を知らない。 まずは, weak equivalence の定義が問題になる。それについては, Colman が [Col11] で定義しているものがある。Colman が考えているのは Lie groupoid であるが, topological groupoid にもそのまま適用できる。この Colman の weak homotopy equivalence を weak equivalence として topological groupoid の圏にモデル構造が入りそうである。

他に Gepner と Henriques の [GH] もモデル構造にかなり近いものを扱っている。 どちらかというと弱ホモトピー同値を weak equivalence とする位相空間の圏のモデル構造に近いが。

全く異なる方向としては, Grothendieck topology を考えるものがある。Meyer と Zhu の [MZ15]である。彼等は Grothendieck topology (pretopology あるいは covering) を持つ圏の中での groupoid object を定義し, 調べている。

Groupoid は群の一般化なので, 代数的な見方もできる。例えば, Morita 同値が考えられる。 そのためには, bimodule に対応するものが必要になるが, それが bibundle というものである。
