表現論などで使われる monoidal category

Monoidal category は, 代数的トポロジーでは, 多重ループ空間の理論などで重要な役割を果す概念であるが, additive category, 特に体 \(k\) 上の \(k\)-linear category になっている monoidal category は 表現論などの分野でよく使われる。特に, symmetric monoidal category になっているものを tensor category と呼ぶことが多いようである。ただ Zhang の [Zha] のように, 単なる monoidal category のことを tensor category と呼ぶ人もいるようで, 何を “tensor category” と呼ぶかは, 人によって異なるようである。 Calaque と Etingof の [CE08] では, rigid monoidal category であり, monoidal structure と compatible な Abelian category の構造を持ち, ある種の有限性を持つものを tensor category と呼んでいるが, これが最も一般的なのだろうか。

更に, 様々な条件を追加したものもよく目にする。

Symmetric tensor category については, Etingof の lecture note [EK] がある。

後者二つは, Barrett と Westbury により [BW99] で定義された。

このような “ tensor category” については, Etingof らの本 [Eti+15] があるので, まずはこの本を見るのがよいだろう。

Tensor category に対し, その Picard group が定義できる。例えば, Schweigert らの [SFR07] などで使われている。ただし, linear であることは必要ないので, 一般の symmetric monoidal category で考えた方がよいだろう。 それについては, May の [May01] を見るとよい。

Tensor category の Grothendieck group には積が入り, 環になることも重要である。Symmetric monoidal なので可換環になる。Gelaki [Gel11] によると, Serre は群やLie algebra の表現の成す tensor category については, そのGrothendieck ring の \(\mathrm {Spec}\) が連結であることを証明したらしい。Gelaki は, その一般化を考えている。

逆に, 与えられた環のもとになっている tensor category を探すことは, categorification の一種である。

Associative algebra や Lie algebra などの様々な代数的構造では, 係数を拡大したり integral form を考えたりするが, それを tensor category で考えているのが Etingof と Gelaki の [EG12] である。

Tensor category の quotient について考察しているのが, Hai の [Hai] である。代数的な文脈で quotient と言えば exact sequence であるが, 当然 tensor category の exact sequence を考えている人もいる。Bruguières と Natale [BN11; BN14] である。 彼らの考えているのは, Hopf algebra の exact sequence の拡張としての tensor category の exact sequence である。 解説としては, Natale の [Nat21] がある。

その一般化が Etingof と Gelaki [EG17] により提案されている。

他には tensor category 上の module category という概念もある。

Mombelli が [Mom10] の Introduction で書いているように, tensor category 上の module category と意識しないで使われていることも多いようである。

群 \(G\) の作用があると, crossed product (あるいは semidirect product あるいは orbit category) として \(G\)-graded tensor category が構成できる。Tambara の [Tam01] など。\(G\)-graded tensor category の中で良い性質を持つものを調べているのが, Galindo の [Gal11] である。

Gainutdinov ら [GHS23; FGS] によると, monoidal categorydeformation theory の研究は, Davydov [Dav], Crane, Yetter [CY98; Yet98; Yet03] により始められたようである。 Gainutdinov らは, Etingof, Gelaki, Nikshych, Ostrik の tensor category の本 [Eti+15] の §7.22 を参照している。

Fuchs と Schweigert の [FS03] は, tensor category の monoid object (彼等は algebra object と呼んでいる) とその上の module の性質を調べることにより conformal field theory の boundary condition について考えている。

Joyal と Street [JS93] は, twist を持つ braided monoidal category を balanced monoidal category と呼び, 更に autonomous なものを tortile monoidal category と呼んでいる。これは, Lyubashenko [Lyu95a; Lyu95b] などで ribbon category と呼ばれているものと同じもののようである。

Chirvasitu と Johnson-Freyd [CJ13] は, locally presentable な monoidal category のことを \(2\)-ring と呼んでいる。当然 symmetric monoidal なものは, commutative \(2\)-ring である。

彼らは Tannaka-Krein duality の拡張として, commutative \(2\)-ring の代数幾何を考えることを提案している。

Abelian monoidal category の中から quasicoherent sheaf の成すものを特徴付けるということも考えられている。そのために Schäppi [Sch; Sch18] は weak Tannakian category という構造を考えている。
