現代的な spectrum の圏で考えると, 群の作用を考えるのも楽である。 というより, EKMMのスペクトラム
[Elm+97] の定義は, May とその共同研究者による equivariant stable homotopy theory
の研究に端を発していると言った方が正確である。その研究は, Lewis, May, Steinberger の [Lew+86]
にまとめられている。より現代的な扱いとしては, Mandell と May の [MM02] がある。
もちろん, 通常の spectrum に EKMM のものや symmetric spectrum, orthogonal spectrum,
といった様々なモデルがあるように, equivariant spectrum のモデルも様々なものが提案されている。最近でも, Mandell と
May の equivariant orthogonal spectrum の精密化が, Bohmann [Boh] により提案されている。May
らの方法は, 通常の spectrum の \(\Z \) による添 字付けを \(G\) の表現による添字付けに拡張するものである。よって universe と呼ばれる
\(G\)の表現の成す category を用いる。別のアプローチとして, Hovey と White [HW] は, 通常の orthogonal
spectrum で \(G\)作用を持つものを \(G\)-spectrum として考えることを提案している。 Equivariant orthogonal
spectrum については, Brun, Dundas, Stolz の [BDS] の Chapter 2 にまとめがある。
- equivariant orthogonal spectrum
最近 equivariant orthogonal spectrum が使われた例としては, Hill, Hopkins, Ravenel による
Kervaire invariant one 問題の (1つの場合を除いての) 解決である。その200ページを超える論文 [HHR16] の半分は,
equivariant orthogonal spectrum とその homotopy category に関する appendix
になっている。
Symmetric spectrum を用いたものとしては, Hausmann の [Hau17] がある。
現代的な spectrum が導入されたのは, spectrum の category に symmetric monoidal structure
を定義するためだったが, symmetric monoidal structure があると, (可換) monoid が定義できる。つまり
(commutatie) ring spectrum である。 よって, equivariant spectrum の category でも ring
spectrum が定義できる。 一方, 古典的な Lewis, May, Steinberger のアプローチ [Lew+86] では operad
を用いて記述されている。 これらの関係とその問題点については, Blumberg と Hill の [BH15] の Introduction
を読むとよい。
逆に, このような洗練された spectrum ではなく, 古いスタイルの equivariant stable homotopy の解説としては,
Adams の [Ada84] がある。
Equivariant spectrum に関する基本的な構成として以下のようなものがある。
- homotopy orbit spectrum \(X_{hG}\)
- homotopy fixed point spectrum \(X^{hG}\)
- norm map \(X_{hG} \longrightarrow X^{hG}\)
- Burnside ring の ideal に関する completion
Burnside ring の ideal に関する completion は, Greenlees と May により [GM92]
で導入されたものである。その元となったのは, Burnside ring に関する Segal 予想の研究である。
Equivariant な setting での Nishida の nilpotence theorem の類似は, Iriye [Iri83]
により示されている。
Spectrum があれば, infinite loop space を考えたくなるが, それについては May, Merling, Osorno の
[MMO] の Introduction and Preliminaries を読むとよい。
- equivariant infinite loop space
群が 有限巡回群や \(S^1\) の場合は, topological Hochschild homology や topological cyclic homology
の構成に現れる。 その構造を一般化して cyclotomic spectrum という概念が定義されている。 Blumberg と Mandell の
[BM15]や Angeltveit らの [Ang+18] などを読むとよい。
Profinite group の作用を考えることもできるが, いろいろ工夫しないといけない。Daniel Davis の [Dav06b] や
Fausk の [Fau08a] など。
Daniel Davis は, Bousfield と Friedlander の simplicial spectrum [BF78] で, (simplicial
set の) 各次元で discrete な \(G\) の作用を持つものを, discrete \(G\)-spectrum と呼んで, それを用いて homotopy fixed
point spectrum の構成などを考えている。
Fausk は, 表現論の induction theorem の一般化を [Fau08b] で考えている。
Rational stable homotopy も equivariant に考えると面白いと主張しているのは, Greenlees [Gre08]
である。
\(G=\Z _2\) の場合は, Atiyah の Real \(K\)-theory を一般化した Real oriented spectrum を考えることができる。
様々な群の作用を同時に考えることもできる。Schwede が global homotopy theory というタイトルで本 [Sch18]
を書いている。 そこでは, 群は compact Lie群で, 使われているspectrum は orthogonal spectrum であるが,
有限群なら symmetric spectrum を用いて global equivariant stable homotopy category
が構築できる, と言っているのは Markus Hausmann [Hau19] である。
Equivariant spectrum の積について考えたものとして, Lewis と May と Steinberger の
[Lew+86] がある。これは 現代的な spectrum の元となった仕事でもある。ところが, Blumberg と Hill
[BH15] が指摘しているように, \(G\)-operad で, その \(G\)作用を忘れた operad が \(E_{\infty }\)-operad になっているものは,
たくさんある。Lewis-May-Steinberger が用いた \(G\)-equivariant linear isometries operad
はその一つに過ぎないわけである。 そこで, Blumberg と Hill は, Hopkins と Hill と Ravenel の [HHR16]
で用いられている良い性質を基準として \(N_{\infty }\)-operad を定義し, それを用いて \(E_{\infty }\)-ring spectrum の equivariant
版を定義している。
