無限ループ空間

無限ループ空間とは, 直感的には, 何回でも deloop できる空間のことである。 つまり, 各 \(n\in \N \) に対し \[ X \simeq \Omega ^n Y_n \] となる基点付き空間 \(Y_n\) が存在するような空間である。 正確には, その delooping (上のホモトピー同値写像) も含めて考えなければならないので, \(\Omega \)-spectrum の最初の空間として定義するとよい。 あるいは, delooping machine を用いて定義するか。

そのホモロジーは, Dyer-Lashof operation の作用を持つ。

全ての spectrum は \(\Omega \)-spectrum に取り替ることができるので, 無限ループ空間の理論は, 安定ホモトピー論と密接に関係している。 正確には, 無限ループ空間に対応するのは connective spectrum であるが。

スペクトラムと無限ループ空間の関係については, May の [May69] を見るとよい。

無限ループ空間の例としては, 以下のものが代表的である。

\(\Omega \)-spectrum ではない spectrum の代表は, Thom spectrum であるが, それに associate した 無限ループ空間は, Kriz [Křı́92] による simplicial space としての構成がある。

Thomason は, [Tho95] で全ての無限ループ空間 (connetive spectrum) が symmetric monoidal category から構成できることを示している。 EKMM の spectrum の発見により, spectrum の圏が精密化されたのに対応して, symmetric monoidal category の圏との対応を精密化しようというのが Schmitt の [Sch] である。

このように, ある (離散的?) データから connective spectrum を systematic に構成する方法を delooping machine とか infinite loop machine などと言う。

一方で, symmetric monoidal category は multicategory (colored operad) とみなすことができるので, 無限ループ空間の構成を multicategory に一般化することも考えられている。Heuts [Heu] や Nikolaus [Nik14] など。 そこで考えられているのは, より一般の \(\infty \)-operad に対する構成であるが。

Rognes の algebraic \(K\)-theory に対する視点に関連して, [Baa+11] にあるように, より高次のcategory を使う必要も出てきている。 無限ループ空間の理論をそれに対応したものに拡張しようという試みとして Osorno の [Oso12] がある。そこでは, strict な symmetric monoidal bicategory から infinite loop space が構成されている。 Gurski, Johnson, Osorno の [GJO17] では, それが symmetric monoidal bicategory の category と connective spectrum の category の homotopy category の間の同値を誘導することが示されている。

その定義から, 無限ループ空間には対応する \(\Omega \)-spectrum があるが, spectrum に対しては ring spectrum などの構造が考えられる。無限ループ空間に対し, May は対応する概念を考えた。

現代的な解釈などについては, May の [May09b; May09a] を見るとよい。

Spectrum の理論が, “structured spectrum” として再構築されたのに合わせて, 無限ループ空間の理論も再構築しようというのは必然的な流れのように思えるが, あまりそういう研究は行なわれてこなかったように思う。Lind の [Lin13] ぐらいだろうか。

群の作用を持つ場合も考えられている。 例えば, Segal の \(\Gamma \)-space の equivariant 版を考えたものとして, Shimakawa の [Shi89], Santhanam の [San11], Ostermayr の [Ost16] などがある。 Ostermayr によると Segal 自身も考えていたようである。未発表であるが。

Macky functorを用いた equivariant spectrum の構成として, Bohmann と Osorno の [BO15] がある。Mackey functor は Bredon cohomology の係数として用いられるものであるが, やはり Bohmann と Osorno の方法を使うと Bredon cohomology を表現する spectrum が functorial に作れるようである。
