代数的K理論の一般化と変種

代数的 \(K\) 理論は, 元々は環などの代数的構造に対して定義されたものである。 可換環と affine scheme は本質的には同じものなので, 代数幾何学の対象, つまり variety や scheme に拡張するのはそれほど変なことではないし, 難しくもない。 そもそも \(K_{0}\) は, Grothendieck により代数幾何学の文脈で定義されたものである。

そのような algebraic \(K\)-theory については, Atiyah-Hirzebruch 型の spectral sequence を持つなど, 代数的トポロジーでの \(K\)-theory と類似の現象が成り立つ。Atiyah-Hirzebruch spectral sequence の構成については, Friedlander と Suslin の [FS02] という構成がある。 Equivariant な場合については、 Levine と Serpé の [LS08] がある。

その scheme の equivariant algebraic \(K\)-theory は, Thomason [Tho87] による。解説としては, Merkurjev による [Mer05] がある。

\(\Z /2\Z \) の作用については, Hermitian \(K\)-theory や Hesselholt と Madsen の Real algebraic \(K\)-theory [HM] などがある。

Hesselholt と Madsen は, “duality structure” を持つ exact category から “real symmetric spectrum”を構成することを提案している。それを ring spectrum に適用できるように拡張しているのが, Dotto と Ogle の [DO19] である。

環に対する古典的な algebraic \(K\)-theory の変種としては, Quillen [Qui96] による単位元を持つとは限らない環の \(K_0\) がある。 それの higher版は Mahanta [Mah11] により定義された。

いづれにせよ, algebraic \(K\)-theory とは, 環あるいはある種の圏に対し, 無限ループ空間, あるいは spectrum を対応させ, そのホモトピー群を取ったものである。 ホモトピー群を取る前, 無限ループ空間の段階で, その性質を調べようというのは自然なアイデアである。

そのため, 1970年代後半には各種データから 無限ループ空間を作る machine について研究された。

そのをアイデアを “topological な ring” に適用したものとして, Waldhausen の algebraic \(K\)-theory of space がある。これは Goodwillie calculus の最初の研究対象だった。より一般に, Waldhausen は モデル圏の半分のデータを持つ圏, つまり weak equivalence と cofibration を持つ圏について考えている。 そのような圏は, 現在では Waldhausen category と呼ばれることが多いようである。Weiss の [Wei99] や Blumberg と Mandell の [BM11] など。

Triangulated derivator に対しては, Maltsiniotis [Mal07] の構成したものがある。

現在では, 無限ループ空間や古典的なスペクトラムの代りに, EKMM のスペクトラムあるいは symmetric spectrum などが用いられるようになり, algebraic \(K\)-theory もその文脈で書き直す必要がでてきた。 それについては, Elmendorf と Mandell の [EM06] がある。彼らは, symmetric monoidal category から積構造を保つ \(K\)-theory spectrum の構成を見つけたのであるが, その本質は, multicategory の構造であることに気づき [EM09] を書いている。

そのような ring spectrum の algebraic \(K\)-theory について, Quillen の localization theorem [Qui73] の類似が Barwick と Lawson [BL] により証明されている。

このような ring spectrum の algebraic \(K\)-theory は, stable homotopy theory の観点からは, chromatic tower との関係が重要である。それを定式化したのは Rognes らしい。

更に一般に stable \(\infty \)-category の algebraic \(K\)-theory も考えられるようになった。Blumberg と Gepner と Tabuada の [BGT13] である。Hebestreit, Lachmann, Steimle の [HLS] を見ると良いと思う。

彼等は, algebraic \(K\)-theory の additive invariant としての universality を証明する枠組みとして stable \(\infty \)-category が使えることを示していて, idempotent complete stable \(\infty \)-category の成す \((\infty ,1)\)-category が algebraic \(K\)-theory functor の自然な定義域であると言っている。

彼等は, [BGT16] では, \(K\)-theory of endomorphisms の定義を同様の方法で拡張している。\(K\)-theory of endomorphisms とは, Almkvist [Alm74; Alm78] と Grayson [Gra77; Gra78] により70年代に導入されたもので, crystalline cohomology [Blo77; Sti82] や Goodwillie calculus [LM12] などと関係あるらしい。

高次の \(K\)-theory としては, Toën と Vezzosi [TV09] の secondary \(K\)-theory がある。これは, \(2\)-vector bundle を使いて elliptic cohomology を作ろうという Baas, Dundas, Rognes の試み [BDR04] の代数版のようなものである。

Category の一般化として operad (multicategory) を考えると, \(\infty \)-category の algebraic \(K\)-theory を \(\infty \)-operad に一般化することも考えられる。それは, Nikolaus の [Nik14] で行なわれている。

Algebraic \(K\)-theory と topological \(K\)-theory の中間に位置するものとして semi-topological \(K\)-theory と呼ばれるものがある。

古典的な \(K\)-theory の元になっているのは, 可換環 \(k\) に対する \(\GL _{n}(k)\) であるが, この可換環から \(\GL \) という群の構成を一般化するという試みもある。Bruns と Gubeladze は, lattice polytope から “polyhedral algebra” を定義し, その automorphism group を用いて algebraic \(K\)-theory を一般化することを提案 [BG03] している。 多面体が単体の場合が, 古典的な algebraic \(K\)-theory に対応する。 彼等による解説 [BG04] や本 [BG09] もある。

  • polyhedral \(K\)-theory

群に対しては, その表現の成す圏から deformation \(K\)-theory や unitary deformation \(K\)-theory というものも作られる。G. Carlsson によって定義された。その motivation は, 体の algebraic \(K\)-theory を調べることである。

Algebraic \(K\)-theory を環の圏の上の homology theory と見ようとすると, 問題がある。例えば Mayer-Vietoris の完全列などである。もちろん, この点を改良しようという試みも行なわれている。Gersten は [Ger71] で, 環の圏の上の群に値を持つ functor が homology theory に拡張できるためにはどういう条件が必要かを考えた。その一般化として Garkusha の [Gar07] がある。

作用素環の \(K\)-theory では, Kasparov の bivariant \(K\)-theory があるが, その代数版も考えられている。

Differential 版もできた。Bunke と Gepner の [BG21] である。
