様々な凸多面体

多面体は, やはり具体的な例で遊ぶのが楽しい。

\(2\) 次元の場合は, 多角形であり3次元以上とは様相が異なる。 例えば, 正多角形は無限個の種類がある。

多面体に親しむためには, \(\R ^3\) の中の正多面体や半正多面体について, 絵を描いたり, 計算してみたりするのが良いのではないだろうか。

「何を計算するのか」と思うかもしれないが, 例えば一松の [一松信02] を見れば, 計算する量がいろいろあることが分かるだろう。

この一松の本では, 半正多面体は, 準正多面体と呼ばれているが, 英語では semiregular polytope なので, 半正多面体と呼ぶのがよいだろう。と, いうことは, 2018年度卒業研究のメンバーの指摘で気がついた。

また, 幾何学的対象として扱う際には, やはり分類をしたくなる。

特異ホモロジーやホモトピー論の基礎として必要になるのは, 単体であるが, ほぼ同様のことは立方体でもできる。

正単体の最も簡単な構成法は, 正規直交基底を成すベクトルの終点の convex hull を取る, というものである。\(n\)次元の単体を作るために \(\R ^{n+1}\) で考えなければならないのが欠点であるが。

この構成法で, 単位ベクトルではなく, 座標が\(1\)を\(k\)個, \(0\) を \(n-k\)個を持つベクトルを考えると, hypersimplex という種類の凸多面体ができる。 正単体は, \(k=1\) の場合である。

Hypersimplex については, [LP07] で Lam と Postnikov が詳しく調べている。彼等以前に, Stanley (Foata の [Foa77] の comment) と Sturmfels [Stu96] が hypersimplex のうまい triagulation を与えているが, Lam と Postnikov は更に\(2\)種類の triangulation を与えている。 それらは全て identical であることが示されていて, そのことから hypersimplex に関する様々な情報が取り出せることが示されている。

ホモトピー論 (それ以外でも) で重要なものは permutohedron と associahedron だろう。関連したものとして cyclohedron がある。他にも, 関連した多面体の族は色々構成されている。

これら3種類を含めた一般化を reflection group の視点から解説したものとして, Hohlweg の [Hoh12] がある。

Fukaya category に関係した abstract polytope として, Bottman [Bot19] が導入した \(2\)-associahedron があるが, それに関連した凸多面体として Bottman と Poliakova が [BP] で constrainahedron という多面体の族を導入している。

Permutohedron は zonotope という種類の多面体になっている。 立方体の affine map による像として定義されるが, いくつかの線分の Minkowski sum で得られる多面体と言っても良い。 hyperplane arrangement とも関連がある。

Permutahedron に associate した hyperplane arrangement は, braid arrangement である。Braid arragement の deformation で得られる permutahedron の一般化について, [Ath99] で調べられている。 Zonotope に関連したことについては, Holz と Ron の [HR11] で zonotopal algebra の理論として調べられている。Xu との [HRX12] もある。

有限次元ベクトル空間の部分群で, 自由アーベル群であるものを lattice という が, 頂点が全て lattice 上にあるものを lattice polytope という。 Regular lattice polytope の分類については, Karpenkov の [Kar06] や Ressayre-Montagard の [MR09] で分類されている。

平行移動で内部が交わることなく Euclid 空間全体を覆うことができる多面体は, Garber らの [Gar11; GGM15] では, parallelohedron と呼ばれている。

Gel\('\)fand と Kapranov とZelevinsky [GKZ94] によって Euclid空間の point configuration から構成された凸多面体は secondary polytope と呼ばれ, 様々な分野に登場する。

最近では, Kapranov と Kontsevich と Soibelman の [KKS16] で Gaiotto と Witten と Moore による 物理 での構成を一般化するのに用いられている。

グラフから作られる多面体も様々なものがある。

グラフから作られた多面体と関連深いものとして, 有限距離空間から定義される fundamental polytope あるいは Kantorovich-Rubinstein polytope と呼ばれるものがある。

組み合せ論的構造としては, poset から作られた polytope もある。

有限群の実ベクトル空間への作用があると, 原点以外の点の orbit の convex hull として凸多面体が定義される。Collins と Perkinson の [CP] など。 より一般に, compact algebraic group の作用の orbit の convex hull を考えているのは, Sanyal と Sottile と Sturmfels [SSS11] である。 彼らはそのようなものを orbitope と呼んでいる。

群から作られるものとしては, Friedl-Tillmann polytope [FT20] というものもある。2つの元で生成され1つの関係式を持ち, Abel化 \(G/[G,G]=H_{1}(G;\Z )\) が \(\Z \oplus \Z \) のとき, \(H_{1}(G;\R )\cong \R ^{2}\) の中の凸多面体 (多角形) として構成される。 Friedl, Lück, Tillmann [FLT19] による virtual polytope としての構成もある。

具体的に頂点を指定して定義される多面体として, cyclic polytope がある。 古くから調べられているものであるが, その単体分割と higher Auslander-Reiten theory との関係が Oppermann と Thomas [OT12] により発見された。他にも, 表現論に関係した多面体は, 色々ある。

Transportation polytope は, 様々な問題に関連した多面体ようである。
