Orbifold の ホモトピー群の定義としては, groupoid の視点からは, その分類空間のホモトピー群と定義するのが良さそうに思える。
しかしながら, その定義に疑問を投げかけているのが, Leida の [Lei] である。 Equivariant homotopy theory
の視点から, stable orbifold homotopy group, そして extended unstable orbifold homotopy
group を定義している。

不変量としては, Lusternik-Schnirelmann category の一般化 [Col10] も考えられている。
Orbifold を一般化した orbispace という概念もある。Henriques の論文 [Hen] によると Haefliger [Hae84;
Hae91] により導入された概念らしい。 ただし, 人によってその定義は様々である。
W. Chen は, [Che] で定義を与え, その基本的なホモトピー論的性質を調べている。その改良版が, [Che06]
らしい。Kontsevich の[Kon95] や Mondello の [Mon08] にも別の定義で簡潔にまとめられたものがある。Chen の
[Che06] は, 局所座標を用いたもので, 非常に煩雑である。しかしながら, 二つの orbispace の間の morphims の集合に
orbispace の構造が入るという点で, 魅力的である。 Kontsevich や Mondello のものは簡潔ではあるが, この Chen の
orbispace の持つ性質を持つのだろうか。よく分からない。この辺のことは, ちゃんと整理する必要があると思う。
Henrques と Gepner による別の定義 [GH] もある。 より新しいのは, Coufal, Pronk, Rovi, Scull,
Thatcher による [Cou+] であり, “accessible introduction to the theory of orbispaces via
groupoids” を目指しているようなので, まずはこれを読んでみるとよいかもしれない。別の方向からのアプローチとしては, Schwede の
[Schb; Scha] がある。 Schwede は, 様々な群の作用を全て含んだ global equivariant homotopy theory
の枠組みを [Sch18] で構築しているが, その中で orbispace を扱うことを提案している。
Körschgen [Kör] が Gepner-Henriques のものと Schwede のものを比べ, 本質的には同値であることを示している。
Chen は, [Che] では、 orbispace からその “loop space” を作り, その “loop space”
の通常のホモトピー群を用いて, ホモトピー群を定義している。 より orbispace 的な定義もあるはずである。より現代的には, orbispace
の モデル圏や \((\infty ,1)\)-category を定義し, その構造を調べるべきだろう。 Orbifold cohomology などは, その上の
representable functor として定義できないだろうか。 Colman の \(1\)-homotopy type [Col11]
がヒントになるかもしれない。

Orbifold が groupoid の言葉で表わせるように, orbispace は, topological stack
の概念を用いて表わすのがよいのだろうか。それを用いて, orbispace の \(T\)-duality について調べたのは, Bunke と Schick
[BS06] である。この論文には orbispace や topological stack の説明もある。また orbispace の twisted
cohomology の公理も書いてある。彼らは Spitzweck と共に, [BSS08] で, orbifold cohomology の定義に用いる
inertia stack などは, topological stack で考えるべき構成だと言っている。例えば, topological stack の inertia
stack は topological stack になることを示している。
Lupercio と Uribe の loop groupoid の一般化としては, Noohi [Noo10] の topological stack の
mapping stack がある。 Roberts と Vozzo [RV] は differentiable stack 上の smooth loop stack
について調べている。
Stack は bicategory を成すことから, 単純に model category を構成しようと考えるのではなく, bicategory 上の
model structure のようなものを定義しようと考える方が有望かもしれない。 その方向では, Pronk と Warren の [PW] や
Tommasini の [Tom] がある。
