複数の入力を持つ代数的構造

などは, 2つの元を掛けたり足したりする演算のための代数的構造であるが, 同時に3つ以上の元に対する演算を行ないたい場合もある。

Ataguema と Makhlouf によると, 3つの入力を持つ ternary algebra は Jacobson [Jac49] により導入されたもののようである。より一般に, \(n\)個の入力を持つ \(n\)-ary algebra は Carlsson [Car80], Lister [Lis71], Loos [Loo72b; Loo72a] などによって調べられている。

Tilman Bauer [Bau22] は, formal group law などの, 代数的トポロジーに現れる構造から, 素数 \(p\) に対し \(p\) 個の入力を持つ \(p\)-polar algebra という構造を定義している。

次数付き版を [Bau] で導入し, それを用いて \(H^{*}(\Omega ^{n}\Sigma ^{n}X;\F _{p})\) の Hopf algebra 構造が, \(H^{*}(X;\F _{p})\) の \(p\)-polar structure だけで決まることを示している。

代数的構造に対しては, 多くの場合, それを調べるための homology や cohomology が定義されるが ternary algebra の cohomology は, Niebrzydoswki が [Nie20] で定義している。

別のタイプの3つの入力を持つ algebra が Lawrence [Law95] によって考えられている。 Staic [Sta09] はその“symmetric cohomology” を調べている。

Lie algebra の多重版も考えられている。 Makhlouf と Naolekar [MN21] によると, 物理学 での動機は, 複数の Hamiltonian を持つ Hamiltonian mechanics を考えた Nambu の仕事 [Nam73] のようである。 \(n\)-Lie algebra の定義が与えられたのは Filippov [Fil85] であるが。 そのため \(n\)-Lie algebra は Filippov algebra と呼ばれることが多いようである。

Friedmann, Hanlon, Stanley, Wachs の [Fri+21] では, Lie algebra of the \(n\)-th kind と呼ばれていて, その free 版が定義されている。

Lie algebra の一般化の一つとして, Leibniz algebra があるが, その複数入力版は, Casas, Loday, Pirashvili の [CLP02] で導入されている。

更に, それらの Hom-algebra 版もある。

Quandleの ternary 版は Elhamdadi と Green [EGM16] により導入されている。

Quasigroup の複数入力版も考えられている。 Krotov と Potapov の [PK12] や Taranenko の [Tar18] など。

Niebrzydowski [Nie] は, 入力3つの quasigroup (ternary quasigroup) が link の不変量を構成するのに使える, と言っている。

このような“多重代数”を考えるときには, operad が有用である。Markl と Remm [MR15; MR11] は, \(n\)-ary algebra を記述する operad の Koszul性について考えている。
