Etale Fundamental Group

Étale homotopy type について, よく調べられているのは基本群, つまり étale fundamental group である。 もっとも, Artin-Mazur の pro-simplicial set の文脈ではなく, Galois category の理論を用いて定義されるものであるが。

Szamuely の本 [Sza09], Murre の lecture note [Mur67], Morishita の本 [Mor12] などがある。

誰でも思うのとは, 位相空間の基本群の性質がどの程度成り立つか, ということだと思うが, 例えば, Misamore [Mis11] によると étale fundamental group の van Kampen theorem については, Stix の [Sti06] や Zoonekynd の [Zoo02] があるようである。Misamore 自身の結果はそれらの改良版になっているようである。

コンパクト Kähler 多様体の場合に, Higgs bundle と局所系の対応を用いて基本群に Hodge structure を定義しているのは, C. Simpson [Sim92] であるが, それを pro-algebraic homotopy type に一般化しているのは Pridham の [Pri] である。

Projective variety の基本群としてどのような群が実現できるか, という問題については, Arapura の [Ara95] にまとめられている。 Étale fundamental group として実現できない群の例として, Pridham の [Pri09] にあるものがある。

代数多様体や scheme に関した群のなので, group scheme して実現できないか, と考えたくなるが, Mondal と Reinecke [MR] によると, それは既に Grothendieck が考え (予想し) ていたことのようであり, Nori [Nor76] により構成が得られている。

それを Artin-Mazur の étale homotopy type を使えば, 高次の étale homotopy group を定義することはできるが, Mondal と Reinecke によると, それを group scheme として実現するのは難しいようである。その代わりに, 彼等は unipotent homotopy group scheme を導入している。

逆に, 位相空間に対し étale fundamental group の定義を真似して profinite group を定義することもできる。 Kucharczyk と Scholze の [KS18] で調べられている。

Corry [Cor12] は, グラフの étale fundamental group を考えている。
