楕円曲線 |

複素数体上の楕円曲線 (elliptic curve) は, 位相空間としては torus と同相である。重要なことは, それがAbel群の構造を持つことである。もちろん, torus も \(S^1\) の直積としての topological Abel群の構造を持つが, 楕円曲線の群構造は, 「作図」により定義することができる。それにより 代数群の構造を持つのである。
